A warm welcome awaits you at 'The Gables' in Picton, your destination in the Marlborough district, well known for the Queen Charlotte Walkway, kayaking, eco tours, sailing, fishing activities and wineries. 

'The Gables', built in 1924 and purchased by Ian and Paula in 2002 especially to share with guests, is situated within 1 block of the town centre and the beautiful harbour foreshore. 

Award winning restaurants and cafes are all within easy walking distance, most within two blocks. Interisland ferries, buses, trains and other  facilities are within 5 minutes walk of 'The Gables'. 

Our guest rooms are upstairs, and have been named to recognise the previous families who have owned 'The Gables' - 

The large "Pictonion" has tea and coffee making facilities, a small pink tiled fireplace, an ensuite bathroom and a firm queen size bed.  

The large "Mariner Room" has a firm queen size bed and single bed, a private bathroom across the hallway (bathrobes supplied) and tea & coffee making facilities.

The "Globetrotter Room" is comfortable with a firm double size bed and an ensuite bathroom and tea & coffee making facilities.

There are Two Cottages at the rear of the house. These are a superb compliment to the 1924 house. They are individually decorated in rich colours. Each has a kitchen, lounge with TV and bed settee. A separate bedroom with firm queen bed. One ensuite has an old claw bathtub and separate shower, the other has a large walk-in shower.

Toiletries, robes and hairdryers are supplied. Continental breakfast provisions are provided for you to eat leisure. A great place for honeymooners, or for that longer stay where you require more privacy. Breakfasts are special at 'The Gables" - after fruit juice, fruit platters, cereals, homemade muesli, you will be offered a choice of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon pancakes with bananas and bacon or our traditional bacon & eggs.

We will happily provide transport to and from the Ferry Terminals and Railway Station on request
